Āu Mahi | What You Will Do Te Kaupeka Ako | The Faculty of Education at the University of Canterbury is seeking to appoint a new colleague specialising in Literacy Education. This position is full-time and permanent. The successful applicant will contribute to teaching and research based in our Christchurch campus.
Mōu | Who You Are Applicants should be able to demonstrate their passion and experience in areas that align with the Faculty. Expertise in one of the following specialisms is highly desired: Supporting diverse literacy learners, Better Start literacy programme, bicultural practices to enhance literacy learning, or supporting struggling literacy learners. In addition, a second specialism, such as ESOL, mathematics, or te reo Māori would be highly desirable.
Skills To be successful in this role, you will have a PhD in Education, and have the following key skills and experience:
a strong international reputation in Education research and teaching, with a proven track record of publications in highly ranked journals
outstanding teaching skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality educational experiences
a demonstrated ability to engage with external stakeholders and make a positive impact on the local and global Education community
proven leadership skills, with a willingness and ability to take on leadership roles within the department, school, and university
An understanding of and the ability to apply bicultural (and /or cultural) competence in an Aotearoa New Zealand context, with examples of culturally responsive teaching practices
Innovative integration of digital technologies in teaching and learning practices

Role This role sits within the Academic Staff, Associated Staff and Academic Support Staff Collective Agreement and the following salary scale applies:
Senior Lecturer: Grade 4.01 $117,241 to Grade 4.05 $132,971.
