MCS Group is currently working in partnership with a highly regarded, locally based Distribution company in Newtownards to recruit an experienced Operations Director.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established and growing business in a pivotal leadership role.
This is a senior leadership role focused on overseeing the day-to-day performance and long-term development of the company's warehouse and customer service functions.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering operational excellence, driving continuous improvement while also owning strategic initiatives to support business growth.
You will directly manage both the Customer Service Manager and Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and execute the overall operations strategy, ensuring alignment with wider business goals
- Provide direct leadership to the Operations Manager and Customer Service Manager, supporting their development and performance
- Oversee warehouse operations including inventory control, order fulfilment, goods-in/goods-out, and logistics coordination
- Champion customer service excellence by ensuring high responsiveness, effective issue resolution, and service consistency
- Establish clear KPIs across both warehouse and customer service teams, and drive a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Analyse operational performance and implement improvements in efficiency, systems, and processes
- Foster collaboration between warehouse, customer service, and other departments to ensure seamless service delivery
- Maintain and improve health & safety standards across operational areas
- Lead operational projects, including system upgrades, process redesigns, and expansion initiatives
