ABOUT KARPOWERSHIP
Karpowership, part of the Karadeniz Holding, is the owner, operator and builder of the only Powership (floating power plant) fleet in the world and plays an active role in medium to long-term investments; providing access to fast-track, affordable and reliable electricity.
Powerships have a range of 30 MW to 470 MW and are delivered ready to operate in less than 60 days.
Currently, Karpowership owns and operates 36 Powerships with an installed capacity exceeding 3,500 MW and another 5,000 MW are under construction or in the pipeline.
In addition to a Powership fleet, Karpowership owns and operates its own LNG fleet.
With expertise and experience in the field, Karpowership serves as a one-stop-shop for LNG to Power solutions, as a single provider delivering all parts of the value chain; including but not limited to LNG sourcing, transport, delivery, regasification, and electricity production; with the mission of powering life wherever needed.
With more than 2,600 employees globally; Karpowership is operational in Mozambique, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Guinea Bissau, Gambia, Senegal, Gabon, Sudan, Ivory Coast, New Caledonia, Guyana, Brazil, Dominican Republic and Cuba.
We are seeking an Environmental Engineer (Specialist) to primarily support our operations in New Caledonia.
The candidate will oversee and manage various functions, including but not limited to identifying environmental and social risks associated with the Powerships, ensuring compliance with national and international standards such as those set by IFIs and the EU.
The ideal candidate should meet the following qualifications:
WHAT DO WE EXPECT?
•BSc degree in environmental engineering
•Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., environmental sciences, sustainability, circular economy, climate change, etc.) is preferable
•Minimum 5 years of experience in assessing environmental and social risks, including Water Heat -Flume- Emissions (WHE), Waste Water Emissions & Treatments (WWET), Air Emissions & Treatments (AET), and monitoring and treatment of Exhaust Gas (Continuous Exhaust Gas Monitoring, DeNOx, DeSOx), and wastes, such as Sewage, Sludge, Chemicals (Waste Treatment WT);
•Proven knowledge of national and international requirements, related to environmental and social impact assessments.
•Experienced in IFIs and EPA E&S appraisals in the related field is an asset
•Excellent command of English and French both written and spoken.
•Authorized to work in New Caledonia
WHAT AWAITS YOU?
•Performing operational monitoring, and reporting for WWEET, AET, CEMS, DeNOx, DeSOx, and WT projects in terms of environmental issues.
•Identifying environmental and social risks of the Powerships to ensure that they comply with national and international standards such as those of IFIs and EUs;
•Conducting capacity-building activities such as training for operation teams.
•Performing environmental and social audits and conducting site visits for the purpose of compiling data, gathering information, and conducting inspections when required;
•Follow up environmental monitoring and work on corrective actions required on the measurement systems and/or related processes to be corrected and improved;
•Monitoring and reporting measures of Powerships according to the environmental and social procedures;
•Ensure trainings in order to increase and sustain the environmental management awareness.
•Prepare and report all the Environmental and Social Impacts that may occur from the beginning of the work to the end in accordance with local and international standards.
•To follow up and report on environmental legislation and hold meetings with official authorities when necessary.
•Ensure that environmental incident reports are prepared and that necessary records are kept.
•Carry out risk analysis and to prepare preventive measures against possible environmental incidents.
•Review all related environmental and social procedures.
•Supply the necessary equipment and materials by defining the environmental needs and providing the request forms.
•Review all job instructions, business and project methods applied in the plants from the Environmental and Social Management point of view, to assist the preparation of Environmental and Social Management instructions and announcements.
•Take the necessary precautions in the business methods by complying to Environmental and Social Management procedures and to inform the related parties in case of any problem that may occur.
