This is a two-year term position, with the possibility of extension, working 75 hours bi-weekly.
Who We Are…
The Yukon Development Corporation (YDC) is governed by a board of directors appointed by the Government of Yukon. We have a legislative mandate to participate with the private sector in the economic development of the Yukon. YDC's focus is on the energy transition, through supporting the development of new sources of generation in partnerships with First Nations and utilities. YDC is responsible for oversight of the Yukon Energy Corporation (YEC) on behalf of Yukoners, as its sole shareholder.
The opportunity…
The Senior Communications Advisor will develop and implement strategic communications to advance the Yukon's energy transition, including energy literacy, stakeholder participation, and the Yukon-BC Grid Connect project. Working closely with colleagues across the Government of Yukon, Yukon Energy Corporation, First Nation organizations, and stakeholders, the Senior Communications Advisor will create cohesive and engaging communications approaches and products.

Essential Qualifications
- Degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, public administration, or a related field
- Considerable experience developing and implementing strategic communications plans, including media relations, stakeholder engagement, and high-profile communication
- Experience developing and briefing on a full range of senior-level communications materials in a government setting, such as speaking notes, media releases, and communication strategies
- Experience managing social media, web content, and digital engagement tools
- Experience with graphic design and developing visual content that makes information accessible (strongly preferred)
Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
