We are currently seeking a talented individual to join our Transportation team. This position is responsible for operating various pieces of light and heavy equipment to maintain highways, recreational roads and airstrips to acceptable standards. Duties include assessing work to be performed, terrain, weather conditions and equipment needs; supervising and assigning work to a crew of employees to ensure maintenance activities are carried out safely, efficiently and within budget.

- Considerable experience operating a variety of heavy equipment (must include loader, grader, and Class 1 truck) in extreme weather and snow conditions;
- Considerable experience with highway maintenance and/or road construction;
- Experience leading, motivating, training, and directing equipment operators in remote settings, environments; and adverse weather conditions;
- Public interaction/relations experience, including working with various regulatory bodies and stakeholders;
- Experience with a variety of computer programs, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be considered equally.

This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following condition(s) of employment and job requirements:
Conditions of employment:
- Yukon Class 1 driver's license with air endorsement;
- Pass TMB Competency assessment on heavy equipment (grader, loader, dump truck, and tractor-trailer).
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate (to be obtained within 6 months of hire).
Job requirements:
- Travel throughout the territory;
- Work in adverse weather conditions;
- Use personal protective equipment;
- Personal tool kit.
