Law Clerk
Job Summary
We are looking for one talented individual to join our team. The successful candidate will provide support to the principle lawyer. They will have a strong work ethic, be collaborative, professional, adaptable, positive and interested in their work.
The hours of work are from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.

Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate all aspects of residential and commercial real estate transactions from inception to closing
- Assist in due diligence process by ordering, reviewing and organizing on and off title searches - coordinate with title companies, conveyancers and third parties
- Enter transaction information into Unity system and ensure all information is up to date and accurate
- Monitor transaction timelines and ensure all due diligence obtained
- Prepare documents using Teraview
- Prepare PPSA filings in Ecore
- Prepare client and lender reports.
- Follow up on undertakings and close files as needed
- Handle mortgage transactions from beginning to end
- Draft, revise and proofread loan documents
- correspond with 3rd parties and client, prepare signing packages, conduct title searches, advise client on same and disburse net funds
- Keep up to date file lists/report lists and follow up on undertakings as necessary
- Oversee commercial acquisition and sale transactions from initiation to closing
- Draft, revise and review purchase and sale agreements
- Conduct due diligence searches using ecore, prepare requisition letters, and prepare for closing
- Lead ongoing follow-ups to ensure all issues are resolved prior to closing
- Draft Wills and Powers of Attorney, and attend client meetings to act as a witness
- Manage and oversee client intake for all files and engagements across the firm
- Maintain calendar by entering and updating closing dates, relevant deadlines, court dates, and meetings. Ensure no conflict in calendar for scheduling meetings between legal team
- Protect law firm's reputation by keeping client information confidential
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED Skills/Qualifications:
• University Degree or equivalent
• minimum 2-3 years of relevant work experience in law firm setting
• Solid computer and typing skills; Proficient in MS Office Suite
• Working knowledge of real estate systems such as Unity, Teraview and Ecore
• Superior organizational skills
• Effective communication skills - orally and in writing; basic math skills
• Detail oriented with strong multi-tasking skills
Supervision
This role reports to the Principal Lawyer and anyone assigned by her.
