Senior Cloud Engineer - M365 and Azure/Entra

Position Summary and Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Service Manager, the Senior Cloud Engineer will be critical in designing, implementing, and maintaining Microsoft Azure-based and Microsoft 365 (M365) cloud solutions to meet the organization's infrastructure and application needs. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to seamlessly integrate Azure and Microsoft 365 services and technologies into the organization's IT environment. This role requires a deep understanding of Azure services, M365 services, automation, and best practices for cloud architecture.

You Should Know:

• This is a full-time, permanent position.
• Hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am - 5 pm. Work on weekends or after business hours may be required (based on client demands and requirements).
• Candidate MUST be local to Ottawa.
• We need you to be eligible for a security clearance.
• You must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for work.
• You will be required to participate in the on-call schedule.

What You'll Do as a Senior Cloud Administrator:

Azure

• Azure Infrastructure Management:
  • Provision, configure, and manage Azure virtual machines, networks, storage, and other infrastructure components.
  • Monitor Azure infrastructure for performance, security, and cost optimization.

• Cloud Solution Design and Architecture:
  • Collaborate to design scalable, reliable, secure Azure-based solutions.
  • Translate business requirements into Azure architecture and design, considering scalability, availability, and disaster recovery.

• Security and Compliance:
  • Implement Azure security best practices and policies to safeguard data and resources.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal security standards.

• Performance Monitoring and Optimization:
  • Monitor Azure resources and applications to identify performance bottlenecks and optimize resource utilization.
  • Implement cost management strategies to control and optimize Azure spending.

M365

• Microsoft 365 Administration:
  • Manage user accounts, groups, and licenses within Microsoft 365.
  • Configure and maintain Microsoft 365 services such as Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive for Business.
  • Monitor and manage security settings, compliance policies, and data loss prevention (DLP) policies.

• Collaboration and Communication:
  • Support and enhance collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Yammer.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to email, calendars, and other communication services.
  • Configure and maintain unified communication features such as VoIP integration and audio/video conferencing.

• Security and Compliance:
  • Implement security best practices to safeguard Microsoft 365 resources and data.
  • Assist in creating and enforcing compliance policies to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Respond to security incidents and perform investigations when necessary.

• Migration and Upgrades:
  • Plan and execute migrations from on-premises environments to Microsoft 365.
  • Stay up-to-date with Microsoft 365 updates and assist with version upgrades.

• Automation and Scripting:
  • Develop PowerShell scripts or automation solutions to streamline administrative tasks and reporting.
  • Implement automation for user provisioning, de-provisioning, and other routine tasks.

• Performance Optimization:
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of Microsoft 365 services.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve performance-related issues.

General

• Troubleshooting and Support:
  • Provide technical support for Azure-related M365 issues, including incident resolution and problem diagnosis.
  • Collaborate with the support team to ensure timely issue resolution.

• Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity:
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for Azure and M365 services.
  • Test and implement business continuity measures to minimize downtime.

• Documentation and Training:
  • Create and maintain documentation for Azure and M365 environments, configurations, and processes.
  • Provide training and knowledge sharing with other team members and stakeholders.

• Stay Updated:
  • Keep up-to-date with Azure and M365 features, updates, and best practices.
  • Make recommendations for adopting new technologies that can benefit the organization.
