- Work Arrangements: Depending on the work and operational needs, positions may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement (combination of onsite and telework). Teleworking employees must travel to the work site at least three times per week or at least 60% of their work schedule at their own expense. Indigenous candidates may request exceptions or alternative arrangements, which can be discussed with the hiring team.

The Research Associate Program offers promising scientists and engineers the opportunity to work in a challenging research environment early in their careers. Selection is competitive, and candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform original, high-quality research.
Research Associates will be appointed on a term basis with salaries and benefits comparable to Research Officers. The current annual Ph.D. recruiting rate is $82,338.
Eligibility
Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in natural sciences or engineering or a Master's degree in engineering earned within the last five years, or expect to obtain it within six months. Demonstrated ability to perform original research is essential.
Term Length
The initial appointment is typically two years, with possible extension based on performance and NRC needs. The maximum employment period is five years.
