Work Arrangements: Due to the nature of the work and operational requirements, this position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement (combination of working onsite and telework). Employees who telework will be required to travel to the work site at least three times per week or a minimum of 60% of their work schedule at their own expense.

The Role

We seek a Coastal Modeller to support our Ocean, Coastal and River Engineering (OCRE) Research Centre. The ideal candidate shares our core values: Integrity, Excellence, Respect, and Creativity.
NRC-OCRE develops practical solutions for industry challenges in rivers, lakes, and marine environments, focusing on climate resilience, safety, and infrastructure protection.
The Coastal Modeller will contribute to coastal and water resources research, delivering modeling, technologies, and innovations. Responsibilities include developing capabilities, engaging clients and partners, proposal writing, project management, and disseminating research.
Candidates should have experience in surface water hydraulics/hydrodynamics, numerical modeling, coastal engineering, river engineering, flood risk management, data analysis, and project management.
Screening Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate the following in their application:
Education: MSc or MAppSc in Civil, Environmental, Water Resources, Coastal, Ocean Engineering, or Geosciences; PhD considered an asset; equivalency considered for near-complete candidates.
Experience: Minimum 3 years in applying engineering principles, modeling, analysis, communication, partnership development, and project management in relevant fields.
Condition of Employment: Secret (Level II) security clearance, with a 10-year background check.
Language: English fluency required.
Assessment Criteria
Candidates will be evaluated on technical skills, project management, communication, and behavioral competencies related to management and research.
Compensation
Salary range: $63,470 to $114,354, based on experience and expertise.
