This employment opportunity is restricted to residents of Iqaluit only.
Under the supervision of the Manager of Teacher Education Programs, the instructor will be responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating courses within the Nunavut Teacher Education Program (NTEP). Offered in collaboration with the Faculty of Education at Memorial University in Newfoundland, this program aims to graduate culturally competent and bilingual teachers. The instructor will deliver subject content and effective teaching methodologies within their areas of expertise.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing, delivering, and assessing courses and programs for students enrolled in the College's Teacher Education Program, as assigned by the Manager.
- Program delivery may take place at Nunatta campus, other Nunavut Arctic College campuses, or various field locations across Nunavut.
The program aims to graduate culturally competent and bilingual Inuktut-English teachers, and faculty proficiency in both Inuktut and English is preferred where possible.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- A Bachelor of Education or an undergraduate degree in a relevant field, plus a Master of Education or a Master's/Doctoral degree in a related discipline.
- A minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience, including at least three (3) years teaching K-12 students.
- Experience with online instruction and digital learning platforms.
- Instructional experience in adult education or teacher education (an asset).
- Proficiency in more than one of Nunavut's official languages (an asset).
