The Volunteer's Role
The overall purpose of the placement is to strengthen the capacity of the Gender Division and additional ministries to effectively monitor performance and effectiveness of its services and programs, including design of tools and systems for collection of gender disaggregated data and analysis of information. As a volunteer, you will support the development of results-based gender-responsive planning, monitoring and evaluation procedures and practices; build the capacity of staff through training on development of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) tools and administration of said tools for programming. Additionally, you will support the implementation of these M&E tools across various ministries including creation of database systems and beneficiary impact assessments.
As a volunteer, you will :
- Conduct assessment of staff capacity to implement M&E tools and systems to assess programs and services on targeted beneficiary groups
- Support the development of training resources and conduct training sessions with staff from various ministries, departments & agencies (MDAs) on results-based gender-responsive planning, monitoring and evaluation procedures and practices
- Support the development M&E systems and tools to collect disaggregated data and to conduct beneficiary impact assessments
- Support the development of gender equality and results-based indicators to monitor and report on the effectiveness of program implementation (beyond sex disaggregated data).
Essential Requirements :
- University degree in social / political sciences, international development, project management, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in a position (s) related to monitoring and evaluation of projects
- Experience working with government agencies
- Experience working with senior management
- Experience in training and facilitation
- Experience with developing M&E database and impact assessments

Project - BluePrints for Gender Equality
Cuso will be implementing the four-year BLUEPRINTS project funded by the Government of Canada Global Affairs Canada (GAC); the main focus of the project is to strengthen the capacity of local governments in Dominica, Grenada, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines to integrate gender into policies, programs, and services to better reflect the needs, perspectives and interests of the Caribbean's most vulnerable women and girls.
Partner - Ministry of Social Services
The Bureau of Gender Affairs within the Ministry of Social Services, Community Development and Gender Affairs seeks to promote and advance the concerns of women and gender issues to assist women and men in realizing their full potential through the attainment of gender equity and equality.
The Bureau of Gender Affairs currently offers the following services to the general public :
- Conduct research on gender and related issues affecting the Dominican populace.
- Lobbying Policy and Law Reform
- Work hand in hand with Government departments and NGOs which share the goals and commitments of the Bureau of Gender Affairs
- Keep abreast of regional and global events and changes as pertains to gender and gender related issues
- Speak out against Domestic Violence Against Women
- Provide Public Education and Gender Sensitization Sessions and Workshops
- Mobilize and Empower Women and Men
- Facilitate Skills Training initiatives
- Counselling (women , men and families)
- Provide support to communities and community organizations
- Engage senior men and women in working and participating in community life
- Disseminate information on gender to the public
Terms and Conditions
Cuso International's terms and conditions allow you to lead a modest and healthy lifestyle similar to local living standards. This support package will cover basic living expenses for one volunteer and is not intended to cover home-based expenses (eg. loans, support payments, etc. ) or luxury items such as imported items in placement or international personal travel.

Additional return flight home or cash in lieu after 12 months of service for volunteers who extend for another 6 months
Accommodations
You will receive suitable housing arrangements that will be coordinated by the local program office of Cuso International for the duration of your placement. The accommodation will be fully furnished with essential items such as a stove, refrigerator, bedroom furniture, table, chairs, cutlery, upholstery, and sheets. It will include necessary amenities like running water and electricity. The experience will be similar to that of staying in an Airbnb. You will be responsible for the security deposit payment, typically equivalent to one month's rent. Additionally, the program office offers the option of an advance that will be deducted from your stipend over three to four months.
Cuso International will cover the monthly rental cost of your accommodation. You will be responsible for covering utilities such as internet access, water, electricity, etc. , using your monthly allowance.
