About the role:
Western Health are excited to offer ten Stage 1 Psychiatry trainee positions for 2026, via our comprehensive and highly supportive Psychiatry training program. As one of the fastest growing services in Victoria, we offer a broad range of clinical experiences across all levels of training. Western Health trainees are able to undertake inpatient, community and specialist rotations across multiple sites, with all RANZCP training requirements available within the service. Please see the attached flyer for further information about available rotations.
Western Health's program is closely tailored to RANZCP's stages of training. Beginning with weekly interview sessions for Stage 1 trainees, we provide a comprehensive suite of education and training activities (including dedicated specialist support around RANZCP exams and other hurdles). Protected education time allows trainees to undertake both regular internal training and their Formal Education Course requirements each week.

Key responsibilities:
Provision of high-quality standards of patient care. This includes the assessment, planning.
implementation and evaluation for care in collaboration with multidisciplinary team.
Accepting accountability for own actions and seeking guidance if situations exceed the scope of practice of a Psychiatry Registrar.
To attend training/educational activities including Grand Rounds, Colloquia and other local training opportunities.
To provide clinical support for other Psychiatry Registrars where this may be required due to workload or other unforeseen circumstances.
About you:
Demonstrate a commitment to high quality patient care
Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration
Demonstrate an ability to communicate at all levels
Have current registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) - (note - eligible applicants will be assisted through this process if not currently registered)
Have Psychiatry experience as an intern, unaccredited registrar and/or HMO for a full rotation/term (minimum 10 weeks) at time of application
