The Mission: C4 Design Support Services

You will support Defence in developing, evolving and governing the architecture and interoperability standards that enable Joint Force command, control, and communication across air, sea, land, cyber, and space.

All roles are structured into Work Packages (WPs) with specific technical deliverables, clear guidance from C4 Design leaders, and monthly milestones. Each WP provides access to classified repositories, collaborative design environments, and the opportunity to work at the centre of Australia's military integration effort.

Clearance: NV1 minimum, PV mandatory for Intelligence & Targeting

Deliver integration design across high-impact Defence capabilities through stakeholder-led collaboration, mission engineering, and advanced MBSE practices.

• ️ Integrated Air and Missile Defence (Air & Space)
• Logistics and Health (lower priority)
• Apply mission threads and MBSE
• Deliver reference architectures, guidance, and design artefacts
• Formalise outputs into Defence-standard profiles
• Contribute to internal design assurance and stakeholder briefings
• Subject matter expertise in any listed domain
• Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement
• Experience in SoS and MBSE (highly desirable)
• Familiarity with NAF v4. 0 (desirable)

Clearance: NV1 minimum; PV required for Bearers domain

Help build the C4 foundation for the 2029-2033 epoch across networks, data, and communications infrastructure. Ideal for architects who can connect big-picture vision with tangible technical artefacts.

• Develop "As-Is" and "To-Be" architectures
• Support Force Integration artefacts and capability assessments
• Implement MBSE at Protected and TS levels
• Drive inputs into Information Environment Control Board (IECB)
• Stakeholder engagement and Defence program experience
• Network security, experimentation, and resilience insights
• MBSE and SoS engineering expertise

Explore C4 in the 2035-2045 epoch and drive thought leadership for emerging C2 concepts and technologies. This is a strategic, semi-autonomous role with publication potential.

• ️ Command as a Manoeuvre Domain
• Produce forward-looking guidance on C4/C2 integration
• Research convergence in computing, networks & command
• Collaborate with Service and Joint stakeholders
• Identify design gaps and seed future C4 practices
• Write and present technical thought pieces
• Strategic systems thinkers or Defence futurists
• Published in journals or conferences (highly desirable)
• Knowledge of advanced Defence technologies
• Familiarity with MBSE or systems-of-systems design

Support the Joint Force Integrator (JFI) in shaping the ADF's future autonomy landscape. This high-impact role merges hands-on delivery with leadership visibility across exercises, working groups, and future-focused programs.

• Assist development of the Autonomous Systems & Teaming Framework
• Coordinate national and international autonomy initiatives
• Plan, execute, and review technical evaluations and exercises
• Deliver briefings to senior Defence leaders and policy forums
• Travel for major events may be required
• Proven experience with autonomy in Defence
• Skilled in planning tests/evaluations for emerging tech
• Strong communication and briefing skills
• Understanding of C4 standards in autonomy (desirable)

Be the connective tissue between technical C4 development and senior Defence decision-making. This high-trust role supports critical Defence committees by synthesising complex inputs into actionable briefs.

• Prepare strategic briefs and assurance documents
• Coordinate inputs from C4 SMEs and cross-agency stakeholders
• Support IECB secretariat and board logistics
• Develop repeatable brief templates for decision cycles
• Influence capability outcomes through governance
• Strong Defence writing and committee coordination experience
• Familiarity with One Defence Capability System
• Secretariat or policy experience (highly desirable)
• Detail-oriented with superior planning and time management
