This role is responsible for managing and executing investment accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting of investment portfolios, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards. The position performs detailed analysis of complex investment transactions, reconciles investment accounts, and provides critical financial insights to support investment decision-making while maintaining robust internal controls and documentation processes.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Core Responsibilities
Investment Operations
- Communicates with external portfolio managers and custodians regarding investment registration and reporting in a timely manner.
- Verifies prices and cash flow information with external market sources, such as Bloomberg, to ensure accurate and timely processing of transactions and activities.
- Reviews and matches the internal investment system with external systems, such as Eagle.
- Verifies management fees charged by fund managers in accordance with the investment management agreement.
- Reviews the value-added tax (VAT) refund report for VAT imposed on services provided by managers and brokers.
Audit, Compliance, and Risk Management
- Coordinates with internal and external auditors and provides them with required information and reporting requirements in a timely manner.
- Complies with policies, procedures, and governance mechanisms in place.
- Identifies and reports any risks and proposes potential mitigation measures.
Investment Management Support and Process Improvement
- Provides required information to the investment management team upon request and in a timely manner.
- Prepares annual financial statements for related disclosures.
- Identifies and recommends potential areas for improvement.
Self-Management Responsibilities
- Defines performance goals at the start of the year in discussion with the Line Manager and ensures that the goals are achieved during the year.
- Identifies the training and development requirements for self and agrees on them with the Line Manager to ensure that the required trainings are arranged and attended.
- Strives to achieve the highest levels of proficiency on all the competencies and skills required to perform the role.
- Keeps abreast of professional developments, new techniques and current issues through continued education and professional growth.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in degree in Accounting/Finance or a related field
- Minimum 4+ years of experience
- UAE Nationals are preferred
